| The hype is actually in getting people to use ethanol and E85. Many websites have ads related to their content. That's how websites earn their living, through sponsors. The same for what you're saying regarding that website could be said for this website with ads that try to sell you an E85 conversion. [ http://www.change2e85.com/servlet/Page?template=Myths ] The truth is that the effects ethanol has on engines not built to specifically use ethanol/E85 (a higher percent of alcohol) are subject to the effects as described on the website I post. Those effects are founded facts, a small example of which can be seen in our own cars with the failure of the injectors. I don't have my links available but there is some good info out there that explains the whole political agenda regarding ethanol production. It's also been well documented that higher blends of ethanol also reduce fuel economy and add to degraded environmental conditions. The other problem is that ethanol is not producible through chemical fabrication without great expense. I have a very good PDF (somewhere) that that explains this but you can read a little about it on Wikipedia. Also read the section called "Ethanol-based engines" where it explains why there is less power (and less fuel economy) in engines that are not specifically built for ethanol use. [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethanol_fuel ] Of course this debate could go on forever :)
